Apollo 18 review

Houston, do we have a problem??


Going into this screening I didn't know what to expect, I mean I knew what the film was about and how the story would be told (first hand accounts using "lost footage") but I didn't know if I was excited or what. 

I'm a big space nut, so when I heard about this film I knew I had to watch it but wasn't sure what conspiracy they would turn to (won't give anything away) but it's a solid theory that has been going on for years.

Apollo 18 is a film based on conspiracy theories as to why we haven't been back to the moon (if we even got there in the first place) shot as though the archive footage was discovered, the story tells of three astronauts who are rocketed to the moon on a top secret mission, one the public are not meant to know about. As they go on with there mission they start to unravel a secret they were not meant to discover and all hell breaks loose.

As the film plays it no doubt has some creepy moments but nothing worth spilling your popcorn over or covering your eyes over although it does make you want to keep watching. The film is edited very well but sometimes I felt that the film going out of frame got pretty annoying (made me want to bang the side of the screen to straighten it out if I could)

The acting is great and the camera angles are great at concealing certain things but the whole time I never thought this could be real (and Timur Berbembatov's Executive producing credit fuelled the thought)

So is Apollo 18 a rocket fuelled by tension, horror and truth or does Huston have a problem? To be honest I don't know, As much as I liked it I can't help but think it won't do too well. It's a good film and like Paranormal Activity people may believe it is real but I can't see this making any big waves.

TMZ has just revealed that Bill Goldberg will be returning to the wrestling ring after 7 years....and the proceeds got to charity!!!

Goldberg will be fighting in Africa next month.

WarHammer 40k Spacemarine Deom

I finally got round to playing the demo of the Warhammer 40K Spacemarine game.....WOW! It is awesome!

For those who are unaware of the Spacemarines or Waehammer 40k, here's a brief history....based on a popular modelling/wargaming hobby which started in the 80s in the UK, warhammer 40k is set in a distant and dark future where there is only war! There are many races who battle amongst each other and the Spacemarines are one of them. 

In the game, we are Spacemarines battling the evil xenos scum that are the Orks! A scavenging, maniacal race of green-bleeders who travel in hordes and kill anything in there path.

The gameplay is easy to get use to and the graphics are good...a lot better than I thought it would be. Usually the guys at Relic do real-time strategy Warhammer games but this one is on the nose. You only get to role around with 2 other Spacemarines Which sucks as they are usually in a squad of 5 but the action is awesome.

The demo let's you play 2 missions, one allowing you to use a jump-pack which is fun. You are equipped with 4 guns, the bolter, bolter pistol, a silenced/scoped weapon and a remote-controlled grenade launcher...also the o-so famous chainsword which many may think was copied from Gear's Chain saw mounted rifle...think again.

This demo has sold it for me, it's everything I expected, blood, blood, body parts, executions and more!!! Defiantly check it out!!

CW are planning to do a show about the DC character Deadman

So after DC and NBC failed with the Wonder Woman tv show. It looks like they are taking another stabbed at it but this time with Deadman. For those who don't know. Deadman aka Boston Brand was a man who got murdered and came back as a ghost but no-one can see or hear him but he has the power to take over a living person's body. There is no say on when this show with come out, but am guessing sometime next year. The only big name attached to this project is Eric Kripke who is the writer of the TV show Supernatural. So i have a feeling that Deadman is going to be a mixture of Supernatural and Quantum Leap. Jumping from body to body, trying to find his way back home expect Deadman is trying to find his killer and get in to heaven.

Could the Scarlet Spider coming back in to Spider-man's life after Spider-Island???

Could Ben Reilly be coming back during Spider-Island?? Marvel put a teaser image yesterday showing the Scarlet Spider vest on fire with the caption "The Return of the Scarlet Spider?" Well for those who don't know, right now there is a Spider-man centered event called Spider-Island. Basically nearly everyone in New York has been given Spider-man's powers but no-one knows how they got them. Even the Avengers and Spider-man has to find out way. But all we know that Miles Warren aka the Jackal and some lady has something to do with it. One issue in and i loving it. I can't wait to see what happens. I hope the old Web-head can save the day

The Future of the X-men: New Mutants and Generation Hope

So this time am going to have a guess who going to be in New Mutants and Generation Hope. Well those who don't who the New Mutants or Generation Hope are, well basically New Mutants was the younger X-men who was introduced back in the 80's who got trained by some of the older X-men like Cyclops, Wolverine and Magneto. Don't worry Magneto was a good guy at the time. Which then, they have grown up have changed their  groups name a couple of times and even changed their roster but now most of the original New Mutants are back like Cannonball, Sunspot, Danni Moonstone, Magma, Cypher, Warlock, Karma.and Magik. But now there are more like a X-men's hit squad. Who goes out and ties up the X-men's loose ends.

Generation Hope are little more harder to explain. So am gonna give it a short. A few years ago The Mutant race went from over a millions to less then 200 mutants thanks to the Scarlet Witch. The 5 years later the first Mutant child was born who everyone called the Mutant Messiah, lots of people tried to kill the baby until Cyclops yet Cable take the baby to future so he could train her and keep her safe and raised her as his own daughter and named her Hope, until former X-man Bishop who went crazy chased them around time, until Hope told Bishop she was ready to return to her own time, a big battle happened. Nightclawer and Cable dead. But now new mutants are popping up and its Hope's job to go and find them while trying to learn how to be a teenage girl. So far she has found 5 new mutants which have been dubbed "The 5 lights" I hope that helps you understand Generation Hope because that has confused me. So lets more on

New Mutants

First things first, it looks like Kerion Gillen ain't going to writing Generation Hope anymore and  James Asmus, who has recently written some X-men books in the past and the artist on the book is Ibraim Roberson who has worked on New Mutants in the past. From what i can remember his art is really good. From this teaser poster, the roster hasn't really changed. The blacked out characters are Teon, Transonic, Velocidad, Oya, Zero and Hope. The only change is that Sebastian Shaw. Who am guessing is going to be their teacher as Emma Frost erased his memories. But i don't know if am gonna pick up this title every month or just wait for it to be collected.

New Mutants

New Mutants is still going to be written by Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning who are best known for their Cosmic stuff in the Marvel Universe. The art is by David Lopez who has worked on several DC titles. I started picking up New Mutants after Zeb Wells left back in April but am planning on picking it up in trade paperback soon.
So as we can see, Nate Grey aka X-man, Cyclops' son from another reality is on the team and it looks like he has hit the gym. But i doubt he is the leader of the team as he is slightly crazy but he is working on getting better. Now for the blacked out characters. The blacked out character closest to the screen has to be Warlock as no-one else in the X-men looks like him. Then next to Warlock might be Sunspot, another classic New Mutant member. I think its him because of the spots coming off of him. The blacked out figure next to Sunspot might be Cypher as his hair is a dead give away. The blacked out figure on X-man right might be Danni Moonstar or Magik. Because they are the only members of the team that uses weapons.

Next i will guess who's on the Uncanny X-Force and the X-Men Legacy

World War Z finally has pictures

As a few of you may know, Brad Pitt has been in Glasgow filming his next movie World War Z, a zombie film based on a novel by Max Brooks.

although we may have seen pics of Glasgow being made up to look like Philadelphia, with american police cars and military vehicles sprinkled about the place we hadn't seen any actual Zombies.... until now.  

courtesy of Ain't It Cool News pictures have emerged of Zombies...well dead zombies anyway. The prop dummies are made up to look like zombie corpses, with the blue discoloration around the mouth which is likely to be the Solanum Virus which causes the outbreak.

Zombies are in at the moment and we cant get enough of them!!!
