Dark Knight Rises trailer officially hits!!

The new Batman film 'Dark Knight Rises' has officially hit our screens and it's hit hard!

The trailer had leaked online a few days ago but the quality wasn't good enough for All Of The Above to talk about (because we're snobs like that).

Nolan's last instalment of The Batman movies will hit cinemas the summer of 2012 and the trailer is getting us ready for it.

See the trailer on the Apple website and let us know what you think!

Raiden back and he is coming for your head

I remember about 2 or 3 years ago, just after Metal Gear Solid 4 came out. Konami released a two trailers showing this new game called Metal Gear Solid Rising and Metal Gear Solid Peacewalker. Peacewalker told the tell of Naked Snake aka Big Boss and how he set up Outer Heaven, sticking to the root of the previous Metal Gear game. Metal Gear Rising which looked to be more of a hack and slash action game with Raiden being the main character. I know a lot people hate on Raiden after Metal Gear Solid 2, but i love the guy. Metal Gear Rising was meant to come out in 2010 but never did. So i started to believe that they just cancelled the game. But on Saturday, my life started to make sense again as Konami showed the latest game trailer at The Spike TV Video Game awards and i gotta say, i nearly wet myself after seeing the trailer. It's beyond crazy. They have even changed the name of the game and added Revengeance.  But i still have no idea when the game is going to end up on the shelves. Here is the Trailer and i hope you enjoy it as much as i do.

Transformers: The Fall of Cybertron trailer is finally here

So its been 2 years since Transformers: The war for Cybertron came out and in many people's books, it was the best Transformers ever and am one of those people. As the movie related games was pretty crappy like most movie related games expect Wolverine and Captain America. But after nearly 2 years of waiting Developers High Moon Studios released a trailer which they showed at last night's Spike TV Video Game Awards and i have to say that the trailer looks pretty awesome. It looks like Cybertron has gotten worst since the last game. We see returning Characters like Optimus Prime, Ironhide, Megatron, Bumblebee who looks like he is dying and Starscream. With some new ones like Jazz who look like he might be a playable character, Grimlock who is actually a T-rex and the Combaticons who form the almighty Bruticus. Am going leave you guys the trailer and i hope you enjoy it

Kyle's Top 10 Wrestlers of 2011. Number 10

The year is coming to an end and i have decided to look back and make a list of my Top 10 wrestlers of 2011. I wanted to  try something different and i came up with doing this. So i hope you wrestling fans enjoy this and give a little feedback of your on. Just letting you know, most of the wrestlers in my list are going to be from either the WWE or TNA as i don't watch Ring of Honor or CZW.

So at number 10 is ..............

Cody Rhodes

2011 has been a good year for Cody. He wrestled at Wrestlemania against Rey Mysterio and actually winning. Which was his first win at Wrestlemania. He has become a big name on Smackdown and won the WWE Tag Team Title with Drew McIntyre and the intercontinental title back in August and is still holding it as we speak. He has also worked on his mic skills and is actually a good bad guy. The reason why i started taking of him was when he dropped his "Dashin" grim-nick  which totally did my head in. When he started wearing his face mask, his character got a lot better as he reminded of Alex Mercer of the game Prototype. The biggest feuds to date was with Randy Orton which gave him a bigger push. He also changed his theme song like 3 times this years. I can't think of anything else to say about Cody so am gona post to videos. I hope you enjoy and i hope you enjoyed my pointless rambling.

The Games of THOR 2.

This week has been up and down when it comes to  finding Directors for Thor 2, as this Patty Jenkins decided to step down as director due to "Creative differences". And Marvel already shortlisted to Directors. Alan Taylor and Daniel Minahan who have both directed a few episodes of Games of Thrones. So Thor 2 might have a slightly mature feel to it. Hopefully no brothers and sisters having sex with each other or random be-headings. Also they are looking for new screen writers for the new project.  Lets just hope Thor 2 is as go as Thor 1.

What do you guys thinks about a adult themed Thor movie?

Michael Bay is close to signing up for Transformers 4. Is this a good or a bad thing?

It was recently reported that Michael Bay maybe back to direct Transformers 4 or as i like to refer to it as BayFormers. After Transformers 3 both Bay and Shia LaBeouf said that they won't be returning if there was going to be a 4th film and Rumors was that Jason Statham has been pegged to be the lead. But now there is a 95% chance that Bay will be back in the directing chair. Which in my personally opinion is a bad idea. The last two BayFormers movies was pretty bad. A lot of Action but no story and the little story that was there didn't include the Transformers in any way. It was about Sam trying to tell a girl that he loves her and then Sam telling a British Girl he loves her. The film is called Transformers but 80% didn't even include the Transformers. Oh yeah, they have also said that Transformers 4 won't be prequel. So there goes the chances of seeing a Human free Transformers movie. They should make a movie explaining the Cybertonian Wars and Why Megatron and Optimus Prime stopped being friends. Or they could just re-do the animated movie from 1986. One of the best animated movie EVER made.

So do you think Michael Bay coming back is a good or a bad thing? Here is a little video that may help you decide

New Amazing Spider-man Movie Poster

This morning Sony Picture released a new poster for the fourth coming "Amazing Spider-man". The poster looks pretty cool. But am not to sure about the Tag-line "the untold story". Is it the untold story because they are focus on a younger Peter Parker and his first love Gwen Stacey. As the other Spider-man films focused on a slightly older Peter and Mary Jane Watson. Personally i can't wait for this movie and hopefully its much better Spider-man 3 with Tap dancing Peter Parker.

What do you think of the poster? does it get you excited?

New Years Eve film review- will we see fireworks in this all star cast filled film?

Brought to you by the director who gave us Valentines Day (the movie, not the actual day). Starring practically everyone that's ever been in a movie, ever. Set on new years eve (obviously) the film follows some of the lives, loves, hates and hurdles that we may all be facing this new years eve outselves. And with so many stories and characters all thrown into the mix there is no way you won't enjoy at least a little bit of it.

The film is a multi-story narrative about a number of people celebrating New Years Eve in New York, we see the lives of a singer, caterer, errand boy, hipster and a host of other characters played by a numerous amount of celebrities.

This is a typical chick flick but the comedy aspect in this romcom will keep the men entertained, if all that eye candy in shapes of Sofia Vergara, Jessica Biel and Katherine Heigl doesn't. Don't worry ladies, there's plenty of guy candy thrown in their too in the fine forms of Zac Efron, Ashton Kutcher, Josh Duhamel and Common.

Now this is the festive season so do expect some cheese on your board with this film, a particular lift experience being the Swiss. There are also some heart warming moments and a some sad bits and even a little twist in the end for those (like me) who think they can suss out a films plot and guess the end.

Out of all the story lines the biggest let down is the one containing Sarah Jessica Parker and her renegade teen, SJP is far too relaxed about her daughter's happenings and must there always be a slo-mo shot of her in a "gorgeous" dress?? I mean come on! Every film?

It's not the greatest film but who would expect as much from a movie with so many famous faces? There are even celebs I didn't expect to see which was a pleasant surprise, the slight 80s reference when Matthew Broderick makes a small appearance as Mr BUELLERton was cool and there is even a few musical numbers which comes as no surprise as that chick from Glee and Jon Bon Jovi are in it.

If you want an all star cast, glitz, glamour and beautiful people set in a beautiful city then this is for you

The Thing - An All Of The above review

In the Antarctic, there lies a ship. A ship unlike any we've seen before.

For anyone who hasn't seen John Carpenter's The Thing, this is the prequel, telling the story of the Norwegian scientists who discover the alien craft and it's frozen survivor which can imitate any living organism, it defrosts and runs amok around the base imitating the people it kills giving us the "who is it?" style film we all love.

The Thing (2011) answers a number of questions that left fans of the 80's film asking. It still has many of the same plot holes like why a group of scientists in the Antarctic would have use for flame-throwers and shotguns? But it doesn't take away from how awesome this film is.

It isn't exactly the scariest film there is but it has a fair bit of jumps to keep you satisfied and the "who is it?" portion of the film, which like the 80s film, plays throughout and really gets you thinking. It's bloody and gruesome and the Thing gets uglier and uglier as the film progresses. Something fans of Carpenter's film will notice is the music, staying the same or slightly modified to give us that thrilling, horrifying 80s tension we know and love.

There are a few moments in the film which echoes the 80s version which makes it feel like they copied straight from the script using similar scenes like the sabotaged blood bank and how they can tell who's human an who's not but its not a big deal, I'll look at it as either a reference or the idea that these are factors that would particularly happen in those situations.

All in all this is a great film wether you have seen the 80s Thing or not and is worth a watch.

Could Booster Gold be given the Green Light?

Since Smallville ended back in May. TV companies have been looking for another Superhero show to take it's place and that show maybe be Booster Gold. Syfy channel have order a script for an hour long drama based on Booster Gold.  The script is currently being worked on by Andrew Kreisberg who has recently helped write the Latest Green Lantern movie, Fringe, Warehouse 13, The Vampire Diaries, Star Wars: The Clone wars and Red Faction: Origins. The show will also be produced by Greg Berlanti who has produced No ordinary Family and Eli Stone. 2 shows that didn't even last one season. So i don't know whether or not i trust this character being left in his hands but i could be wrong. Maybe its more then lucky that the Booster Gold we saw in Smallville will not be the same in this new show. Hopefully this show actually gets made. I just hope he ain't disco collar Booster Gold with a mullet and Skeet is actually a flying robot and not a bluetooth headset like in Smallville

Dark Knight rises is gonna be Brutal

Some big news came out today. In a recent interview with Empire Magazine, Christoper Nolan said that Bane is this film is going to be BRUTAL. Snapping neck and putting boots to asses. Nolan even went on to explain why Bane's mask if different from the mask he wears in the comics. In the film, Bane has to wear this new mask to survive. It helps him breath as he lung was damaged in a previous fight. Also Dark Knight Rises is going to be set 8 years after the events of Dark Knight and Batman ain't doing so well. So who knows what's happened to good old Bruce since then. He had even Adopted Dick Grayson. Am only joking. But i can't wait for this film and its awesomeness.

Marvel's has beheaded another 2 titles. Daken: Dark Wolverine and Black Panther: The Most Dangerous Man Alive

Am starting to think that Marvel secretly hate me. First they cancelled Iron Man 2.0, then X-23 and now they cancelled Daken: Dark Wolverine and Black Panther: The Most Dangerous Man Alive. Two titles that i was really enjoying. I just find it funny how they cancel both of Wolverine's kids books but yet Wolverine: "The best there is" is still going. One of the worst comics to hit the shelves. Well next to Neil Adam's latest Batman book. But that a story for another time. Now i can see why Black Panther is joining the Avengers and X-23 enrolling at the Avengers Academy. But what comes next for Daken? Will he some how end up with one factor of the X-men or will he end up disappearing in to the dark side of the Marvel Universe. I heard that Ghost-Rider is going to appear in a Venom centered event. I feel kinda bad for Rob Williams as this is his second book to get cancelled in a week. I wish him the best of luck.

Now Ghost Rider makes hit the Marvel Cut list

Ghost Rider has been the next title to be cancelled by Marvel. It first started off as a rumor until later it was made a official by the Writer Rob Williams who confirmed it on his Twitter page. I feel kinda bad for this title it only got up to 9 issues and they even introduced a new Female Ghost rider. I highly doubt we will ever see her again plus with the new Ghost Rider movie coming out, i have a feeling they will relaunch the title but with Johnny Blaze so new readers don't get confused. Kinda like what they did with Captain America. Well i hope the character doesn't end up like Wally West and totally disappear.

Man of Steel 2 script already being worked now???

Word buzzing around the internet is that Warner Bros are already looking for writers to work on the Sequel to Zack Snyder's Man of Steel.  The rumor is that the heads of Warner Bros are very keen on the upcoming Superman film, so they wanna really push the film and make sure there is a sequel. But they say the same for the Green Lantern Movie which didn't do to good in the box office. Which is also meant to be getting a sequel. So right Warner Bros have a so called "shortlist" of writers. So only time will tell if this rumor is true or not. But i have a feeling it is. As DC might use this movie to build up to their plans for a Justice League movie which hinted to come out 2015.

Kyle @JohnnyTimpulse

Batman Beyond shall be returning with a bold new number one

It looks like DC haven't decided to get rid off Terry McGinnis. DC announced Today that Batman Beyond with be coming back in February with Adam Beechen returning as writer but the name of the title has slightly. Now it's going to be called Batman Beyond Unlimited. So basically the series will be picking up from where it left off. But wait, there is more awesome news. A new Beyond series is starting. Justice League Unlimited. Which is going to Justice League of the Future. Well the Justice League from the animated universe anyways. Which am pretty excited about as i love all the old animated universe. I only wish they actually got a cartoon but i guess the comics will do. The writer and artist for this title is going to be Dustin Nguyen who is known for his work on the last series of Batgirl and Street of Gotham. But they haven't said when this title will start. Hopefully April.

Kyle @JohnnyTimpulse

Kristen Stewart could be in the Akira movie. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!

So if you haven't heard already but everybody's favourite bi-polar vampire lover Kristen Stewart aka Bella from Twilight has been ordered to play the role of main love interest Kei in Warner Bros's live action version of Akira. When i first heard this, i  had to check what month it was then i found out it wasn't the First of April and i cried a little inside. I know that the lovers of the Cult Classic Manga won't be to happy if Kristen takes the role. I really liked her to be perfectly honest. She always seem like she is drugged up but if she does take the role, i will give her a chance i guess. Maybe this can help me get the sour taste of Bella out of my mouth. But only time will tell.

Darksied new look for the New DC 52

The New DC universe will be dealing with some New God's action and the King of Evil Darksied. This week DC realesed a picture of Jim Lee's new design for the Anti Life King. Personally i like it and am glad to see Good old gray face back. He hasn't been seen since Final Crisis where he died but because of this new relaunch i don't think that happened but i can't be sure. But hopefully they ain't changed to much of Darksied's character and keep him a straight up Bad-ass.

Marvel has cut yet another title. But now it's personal

The first couple of weeks have been pretty rough and things are getting cancelled left, right and center. Last week Marvel announced that Alpha Fight, Iron-man 2.0 (which i actually like and get each month), Herc and even Young Victor Von Doom which got cancelled before it even got released. But now another title has been axed and am sad to say it's X-23. Issue 24 will be the finally issue but don't worry, Laura will be joining the Avengers Academy. So there is some sort of silver cloud behind this bad news. Am pretty sadden by this news. I loved this series and have done since issue one and it's gonna be sad not seeing Marjorie Liu writing Laura anymore. Over the last 1 year and a bit, i think Marjorie found a voice for Laura and made her more then a cheap Wolverine knock off. Hopefully the character of X-23 doesn't fade off in to the background and never seen again. Marjorie Liu, i shall miss you

Now am gonna go and drink away the pain

Dr Who movie in works

The hit show 'Dr Who' is currently in development by the BBC, Director David Yates (director of four Harry Potter films) told Variety magazine.

Yates says the film will take a fresh approach to the show, being different to that of Steven Moffat's and Russell T Davie's versions.

"Russell T Davies and then Steven Moffat have done their own transformations, which were fantastic, but we have to put that aside and start from scratch," he said.

A BBC spokesman said: "A Doctor Who feature film remains in development with BBC Worldwide Productions in Los Angeles.

"The project is unlikely to reach cinemas for several years and as yet there is no script, cast or production crew in place."

Immortals: A big fat epic or a Greek tragedy?

Long ago there was a war. Those who were vanquished we're named titans and imprisoned beneath mount tatarus, but those who won were named Gods.
This is the story of Theseus, who on a time great trouble to the Helenics, is destined to lead them to greatness against King Hyperion and his army who plan to unleash the titans is a bit for world domination.

Starring Mickey Rourke, Freida Pinto and Henry Cavil, who is the new Superman. Written by Carley and Vlas Parlapanides, directed by Tarsem Singh and produced by the produced by Ryan Kavanough and Mark Canton who produced 300. This was a very big part of the advertising campaign which I personally feel is unessesary as the only similarity between the two is that they are both ancient Greek stories.

Unfortunatly this movie fell slightly sort of the great epic that it could have been but if you are looking for some great action sequences and a bit of eye candy, then this is the movie for you. I especially liked the spin of ancient mythology in this film. The Minotaur (man with the head of a bill, for those who aren't down with their Greek myths) was simply a large burly man in a bull helmet, genious.

Overall a good movie, though slightly questionable version of Theseus' story.

An interview with Greg Richters on indie film-making and his new feature 51 Degrees

All Of The Above had the chance to interview independent film director, Greg Richters about his first feature film '51 Degrees', film funding and the future of independent films, here's what brief synopsis and what Greg had to say:

51 Degrees (aka The Last Days on Earth) is an independent feature film by Greg Richters. It's not your typical End of the World movie as it mainly deals with how Damon Miller (the protagonist) and his relationships, work and daily life are affected by this.

• When did you decide you wanted to be a film-maker and who influenced you?

Greg - I decided to become a director pretty early on, at the age of six. I was a professional children photo model in Germany and saved some money which I spent on second hand gear like a Sony Hi-8 video camera. At that time I was greatly "influenced" by films like E.T., The Lion King and The Jungle Book ;-) As I grew older I loved all the movies by Steven Spielberg, Stanley Kubrick, Martin Scorsese and Billy Wilder.

You've made over 30 films and commercials through the years, what is your greatest achievement so far?

Greg- I guess my greatest achievement will be 51 Degrees, the movie I'm currently directing. It's my first feature film. Prior to that I made several shorts. The one I'm most proud of is a short film I made when I was 14, "Dean's Life". It was an incredible experience. We attracted major German stars like Mario Adorf to the project. I worked on it for three years and it turned out to be 35 minutes long. It basically followed "Dean" from his early 20s until after his death at the age of 83. The script which I co-wrote with German screenwriter Georg Ludy became the inspiration for the Hollywood movie "Click" and a Nespresso Commercial (with George Clooney and John Malkovich).

•You are currently in the production stage of '51 Degrees', can you tell us about the film?

Greg- On the surface, 51 Degrees is a movie about the End of the world. It is about an Asteroid that hits our planet and wipes us out. But on a deeper level the movie is really about Damon Miller (played by the great German actor Moritz von Zeddelmann) who is trying to deal with his own life problems. I am trying not to tell your typical End-of-the World film but making this experience much more personal. We shot the movie very "docu-style", using only HDSLR cameras and mixed fiction with non-fiction. We shot most of the film on the streets, guerilla style, mostly without permits. We had some great NASA scientists on our side helping us getting the facts straight. The film will be a very unique experience to the audience. It's something you haven't really seen before.

The story explores the life struggles of German filmmaker Damon Miller who lives and works in London. The movie follows Damon through his daily struggles which become trivial when confronted with the End of the World. He is told by the UK Space Agency (British NASA) that an Asteroid will hit Earth within a few weeks. They have built a Space station to ensure the survival of the human race. In exchange for Damon's services (capturing the End of the World) he is given one ticket to the Space station. He gives it to his girlfriend.

•In terms of funding '51Degrees', how hard is it to fund an independent film and how did you overcome them?

Greg- I am currently working on three other feature films. One of them I've been developing with my good friend Daniel Hendricks Simon, a filmmaker from New York. ItThe movie is called EMILY LAZARUS and we have worked on it since 2007 (he started working on it in 2002). It's been quite a difficult journey to get the right financing. When I moved from New York to London 18 months ago I decided to make a movie that is very small which I can finance out of my own pocket. This would not have been possible without the HDSLR revolution. But that's exactly what we did. Sometimes I feel like it's harder to make a movie with a low-budget than with no-budget. Why? Because once you start spending money it's a never ending process ;-)

•Indie film-making is being widely acknowledged by mainstream film-makers, where do you see indie film-making going in the next few years?

Greg- OH, indie filmmaking is the way to make movies in the future! Now with HDSLRs this industry is more powerful than Hollywood! I mean any 14 year old can grab a camera, watch a couple of tutorials and tell a story which can compete (even in terms of image quality) with most Hollywood-made movies. What I loved most about the experience of making this movie is the freedom I had. No one tells me "You can't do this and that or I'll take my money and run". It's all about the vision of the filmmaker and that's the only thing that counts.

•And finally, what advice can you give for any aspiring film-makers out there?

Greg- Don't stop!!! Don't stop dreaming! Don't stop shooting! Don't stop learning!
Don't talk about making a movie for a decade! Just do it!!! Go out there and show your talent to the world! You have nothing to lose! But at the End of the day it's really about having fun :-D

But '51 Degrees' didn't always run as smoothly as Greg wanted, "We experienced quite a few things during this production...While shooting a scene back in March on Tower bridge, a bus driver saw "Damon" cross the bridge carrying a suitcase and thought it contained a bomb. He immediately alerted the bomb squad!" but the most amazing event Greg had witnessed was the mass of extras who turned up on set, "we planned an End of the world scene at Piccadilly Circus. We expected 500 Extras but 1500 showed up! In a couple of takes you can't see the streets anymore. We are estimating an additional 1000 tourists came together and stood on the streets to watch the event. The police was forced to shut down the main streets for at least 5 minutes and diverted all traffic and passers-byers. It ended up being the 2nd largest film production in the history of Piccadilly Circus!"

Sound like an awesome film! Watch this space for more news about '51 Degrees' and more.

Deck the halls with our Arthur Christmas review

Aardman, creators of 'Wallace and Gromit' and 'Chicken Run' have decided to go the route of computer animation and managed to keep their style with this ever so Christmassy movie.

'Arthur Christmas' written and directed by Sarah Smith tells the story of Arthur, son of the current Santa Claus, who goes on a wild trip with his Grand Santa and his ancient slay to deliver a present which was left behind before the Sun comes up on Christmas day.

Voiced by an incredible cast of James McAvoy, Steve Laurie, Bill Nighy and many more, this film was certainly a surprise. With a few good laughs and good 3D this film is great for the kids and adults alike, it's cleverly thought out with its UFO-style slay, gadgets and tech savvy elves and certainly gets you into the Xmas spirit.

It's been a while since there's been a good Christmas movie and this could be the one you watch with your family on Christmas day (once its out on DVD that is) but until then go and catch on the big screen.

Tower Heist, a master plan or a foiled robbery?

When I discovered that Ben Stiller and Eddie Murphy were going to be in a heist comedy directed by Brett Ratner I didn't know what to think. It felt like two comedy legends whose films were not quite great anymore were trying to sell tickets, but I was wrong.....to an extent.

From the beginning it didn't feel like a regular Stiller comedy and that may be partly thanks to Ratner but may also be a huge part to Stiller having not written it.

Stiller plays a manager of a tower which houses the wealthy and seeks revenge on his boss after swindling the employees money through fraud by robbing him. With a gang of unlikely robbers consisting of Matthew Broderick, Eddie Murphy and that other Affleck brother, you can be sure to expect a lot of comedic moments...and you do.

With a lot of laughs equally distributed between the group and a few other characters you can't help but feel Eddie Murphy steals the show (but having produce the film as well, it was bound to happen).

This isn't a bad film, it's funny and keeps you wondering how they'll rob the tower until they actually do. For a heist comedy its not as bad as I thought it would be and expected more comedy than heist yet with this film it's almost equal.

If you're looking to see a comedy with a few familiar faces then this is the film for you. It's not the greatest comedy in the world but it's a huge step from Eddie Murphy's Dave and Stiller's Night at the Museum films...this is actually for teens and adults.

Our In Time review on time...just about

'In Time' is a mid-concept Sci-Fi thriller set in a future where time is our currency. A world where we are genetically designed to die at 25 and must work to survive.

Dubbed the "Timberland's Matrix" I can safely say it's nothing of the sort, it's thought through yet leaves many a loop hole and doesn't quite get us thinking about our existence in the same way. What it does do though is ring true to the way we live as a society and the classes within it. How the poor become poorer while the rich become richer, how many must be poor for the few to be rich. It has a good theme underlining a Sci-Fi action film.

In a nutshell this is Robin Hood meets Bonnie and Clyde kind of story, but done extremely well. Justin Timberlake brings in a surprisingly great performance along side Cillian Murphy and Amanda Seyfried and the direction is very well executed but not the greatest we've seen this year.

It's a great film which will get you thinking about how we live as a society but probably forget all about it as you walk passed the 'coming soon' posters on your way out of the cinema.

There are a few things that scream out 'Hollywood!' like why everyone is so damn sexy, Olivia Wilde being queen milf but they're not major peeves. The cars are awesome, the terms for the police and loan sharks are awesome and even though it's as if someone heard the phrase "time is money" an literally took it to heart this is a really good concept for a film.

I give this 4/5 stars and recommend you give it a watch....if you have the TIME...sorry, had to do it.

Peter Jackson to direct 'Tin Tin and The Prisoners of The Sun'

It's no news that Spielberg and Jackson would take turns directing the movies but thanks to The Playlist, Jackson has told of working on the next Tin Tin once he finishes the Hobbit movies.

Sony and Paramount are watching the box office with eager anticipation as to wether they will fund a second film however the script has already been written by author Anthony Horowitz beat known for his UK teen spy novels. I'm a little sad to hear Edgar Wright and Steven Moffat will not be writing the next story but am interested none the less as to where this is heading.

'The Prisoners of The Sun' tells of when Tin Tin and Captain Haddock uncover the truth of a deadly illness that hits anyone connected to an Incan tomb and hopefully Professor Calculus will be amongst the plethora of characters!

Paranormal Activity 3 (the one set in the 80s)

Before I begin I must admit to a few things:
• I don't usually watch horror movies
• I haven't seen the second Paranormal Activity

Now that that's covered I can begin.

The new Paranormal movie takes us to the past where it all began, baggy trousers, MC Hammer, Madonna....i'm of course talking about the 80s where, thankfully we see none of these during the film. Instead we see a whole lot of creepiness, with a few frights on the side!

It seems that tension has returned and snuck up behind us as it was destined to do (I for one was a little tired of the "see all" horrors in which we see all and leave nothing to the most important thing we humans have, imagination)

This film is straight up scary, clever and funny. At some points it felt very scripted for a film which is shot as if it was real, and there are still the questions everyone asks like "why is he still filming?" and "but why is he still filming?".

The kids are great in this with truly creepy performances, but the greatest performance, as it is with all these "shot to be real" films is the camera! It allowed us to see only a little of the evil it documents and yet we wanted to see more!

It does get a bit silly in the end but only because it ties into the storyline of why the demon/ghost is there, which I personally feel spoils the idea of "this film is supposed to be real" however, If you want a film you can scream to, laugh at (to cover your fear) or whisper quite loudly to your friend "f*** that!" then this is a film for you.

In George Kleanthous @GeorgeK1988 and I think I may need to watch some Disney films before I got to bed!

The Phoenix is coming but who will be the host?

For the last 10 or when ever the Grant Morrison run on "New X-men" ended people have be wondering when Jean Grey or the Phoenix force would return. Then Hope Summer came on the scene in Messiah Complex and people started to think that she was Jean Grey returning from the dead and when Emma Frost saw the Phoenix in Hope's eyes everybody went crazy, thinking that Hope is some how Jean Grey. Now one year on, Marvel has released a teaser poster saying its coming.

From what i have heard, this is meant to tie in to big event that's happening in 2012. Marvel says that next year is going to be world changing event. With Cable, Nova, The Phoenix and maybe Bucky Barnes returning  in a big way. Personally i hope that Jean Grey doesn't come back from the dead and i don't Hope to turn out to be Jean Grey. Hope is a good character on her own, you don't need to link her to Jean Grey. Marvel could totally catch people by Surprise and make Emma Frost the Phoenix. As no-one would see that coming. But maybe that's just me. Well we only have 3 month till wait.

Till then i shall be looking to see if there are any spare room on Utopia since Wolverine and his X-men decided to go back to New York.

Can Deadpool really die??

Could  be the end of the Merc with a mouth, everybody's favourite gun carrying Canadian and i ain't talking about Wolverine. Am talking about Deadpool. Recently at New York Comic-con during the X-men panel, Writer Daniel Way teased that Deadpool may actually die during a story arc entitled "Death" which start with issue 50. Way said "Wade (Deadpool) really wants to die. Could the book getting cancelled due to poor sales which i doubt as everyone (expect me) loves Deadpool or is he actually gonna die? I may actually buy this title to see whether  he does or not, but i highly doubt he will.

Well off to go and join Department H and get myself a mutant healing factor.

Catch ya'all later

Bay and Spielberg in talks for Transformers 4 + 5

We all remember when Micheal Bay said he was never going to direct another Transformers film? Well surprise surprise! After the box office smash that was Transformers: Dark of the Moon, bay and Spielberg are in talks to reboot/continue the franchise.

Now I'm happy they're continuing the franchise but I just hope they do it right. I mean Bay isn't a terrible director, I enjoyed most of his films that didn't suck and Spielberg is a cinematic master so there's no doubt it'll be visually amazing but it's all about the bots and if they can't script it right is it really worth it?

The rumour is that they plan to film the two movies back to back and a "reliable source" from a well known site claims Jason Statham will be the main character hunting down the bots.....I know, a terrible idea. I hope it's just a rumour because if he is the star of the show I can see a very dark future in out midst....saying that, he could be part of a British black ops style group or something, who knows?

Does Real Steal pack a punch?

If you don't know what I'm talking about here's a brief description:

In the near future, robots have taken over for humans in the boxing ring. A former boxer and small-time promoter (Hugh Jackman) struggles to make a living with patched-up robots in shady venues. When he discovers he has an 11-year-old son who believes that a robot found in the junk heap has what it takes to win, he finds himself with a shot at the big time. -- IMDb Plot: Real Steel (2011)

Now that thats covered let's cut to the chase.....it's awesome! A great story based on a short film (but let's be honest, we all know it's based on the game 'Rock 'em Sock 'em Robots'....anyway) Jackson's performance was great and that kid was ok too despite the annoying screams you would usually hear when you beat kids at call of duty.

The fight scenes were great and actually had me rooting for Atom the whole way through. The CGI is great and the Rocky style montage in the last fight was epic too.

If you look past the blatant product placement this film has an interesting idea, no not big robots fighting each other for sport, but the idea of....ah who am I kidding? Yes, the idea of giant robots fighting it out for our entertainment is what I'm talking about.

This film is for everyone, the kids, the parents, everyone!

All for one and all that jazz - Three Muskateers movie review

When I first saw the trailer for the 'Three Musketeers' film I automatically knew what kind of film this was going to be, an adventure movie with the intent to be something bigger, something on the lines of a certain Pirate franchise? I can safely say I was correct.

'Three Muskateers' based on the book of the same title by Alexandre Dumas père and directed by Paul W.S Anderson (Mortal Kombat/ Death Race)
Is a swash buckling adventure with a steam punk feel about, you guessed it three musketeers! Oh hold on don't forget the fourth one, D'artanian played by Logan Lermon (Percy Jackson) who manages to become a member of the King's guard after three days of being in Paris with no test or training or nothing. The film also stars that chick from Resident Evil who seems to do sexy poses between her ridiculous stunts and Orlando 'I want to be a good actor' Bloom who plays Buckingham, his best role since Legolas.

The script is poor and the performances are average at best. The 3D was ok but did nothing for the brilliant colours the film contains if watched in 2D, this still couldn't take my attention away from the piss poor acting, accents and dialogue. The action sequences were good and it was a little funny but it was lacking so much it left me questioning the storyline and it's faithfulness to the book (which I haven't read).

My other peeve is small but...why are they not wearing the musketeers uniforms they should be wearing? Are they too good for the uniform of the King's guard? Or do they need to be individualised because we as an audience won't be able to tell who they are or what style of fighting they use?

All in all if you want a swash buckling adventure but content with a sub-par version then this is for you. If you want a Pirates franchise then....watch the pirates franchise.

I give this film 3/5 stars as it's not completely terrible (like Shark Night 3D)

The Lion king 3D review

First released in 1994 , Simba is back and this time he is 3d! This is one of the first classics to make a reappearance in 3D with the likes of the Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast said to follow.

It's safe to say this was amazing the first time round without the 3D due to a fantastic array of characters, timeless soundtrack by Mr Elton John and stunning backdrop, but it was great fun to see some childhood favourites transformed and back on the big screen.

I have never heard anyone say they don't like this film. A treat for old fans and new.

Should We Be Afraid of The Dark?

Originally a tv movie from 1973, it has come along way from midgets in masks thanks to director Troy Nixey and producer Guillermo Del Toro.

When sent to live with her father, Sally discovers a secret beneath the house her father is renovating. Cue some creepy tooth fairies that have a hankering for children's teeth and they don't want to wait for them to fall out.
Staring Katie Holmes (Dawsons creek, Batman Begins) and Guy Pearce (Memento) this film definitely has the creep factor with plenty of tension and a few jumps to boot.

If you are a fan of Del Toro's universe (Pan's Labyrinth, Hell boy) this creature feature is worth a watch.

First look at Amy Adams as Lois Lane in Man Of Steel

Here's a few pics of Amy Adams As Lois Lane in the new Superman film 'Man Of Steel'. If your thinking that she looks odd don't fret, she does. It's the first time the comic book character has changed appearance in the shape of red hair.

For me this isn't really a big deal and I know I'll end up getting used to it but what do you guys think?

Retreat review

Retreat

A couple return to a cottage on a private island, when their relationship struggles after a miscarriage. Some generator problems and a blooded stranger with the threat of a pandemic later and we have the setting of our story.

Starring Tandie Newton (Rock n Rolla), Cillian Murphy (28 Days later) and Jamie Bell (Billy Elliot) this film has a class cast, so the limited release and almost straight to DVD release really surprises me. Every one is on top form and delivers some fantastic performances, simply superb.

The film is tense from start till the mind blowing finale. At first it feels almost as awkward as being around an arguing couple (we all know how that feels). We watch, sometimes painfully, an awkward couple struggle around each other and then Bell arrives who actually brings the couples relationship closer, and who wouldn't get closer to their partner in times of imminent death by apparent viral disease or crazy stranger?

Good story, well written but with some predictable dialogue. This story has more twists and turns then a fusilli pasta shape. All in all it was a great film with a small but fantastic cast. It appears that sometimes film goers, less is definitely more. And this movie is more (does that make sense? I hope you at least get what I'm trying to say). If you like tense, thrillers with some delicious home grown talent, watch this film!

Retreat- running time 82 minutes

Limited release on 14th October with DVD release on 17th by Sony Home Ent.

The Avengers team!

Here is a pic of Marvel's Avengers team, consisting of Iron Man, Captain America, Black Widow, The Hulk, Hawkeye and of course Thor.

It's a pretty cool pic although it would be better if they were actually together! And it's the first time we see Evans in the new Cap uniform since the teaser trailer at the end of Captain America: The First Avenger.

Catwoman gets Ears!

I don't know if everyone has seen the images of Ann Hathaway's Catwoman on the set of The Dark Knight Rises but there was a lot of talk about her "ears" and lack thereof.

Now images have appeared of Hathaway with cat-ears! I'm not quite sure what to make of it but it's not like my opinions will change the costume either way! One thing I have noticed is that she is more 60s Carewoman than her previous costume which was more like the recent comic costume where she wears high-tech goggles. Also what sort of thief walks around with their hair out? All it takes is a forensic scientist to find that shut at the scene of the crime and that's it for her!

I'm sure come film release that it'll be fine and we won't even notice it but until then, what do you guys think??

Avatar going to Disney?

Everyone remembers Avatar, you know, that film that started off a new wave of 3D films?

Well Avatar creator James "Gimme your money" Cameron has teamed up with Disney imagineers to create a Pandora themed ride! Yes that's right, a ride.

Cameron had this to say:

“Avatar created a world which audiences can discover again and again and now, through this incredible partnership with Disney, we’ll be able to bring Pandora to life like never before. With two new Avatar films currently in development, we’ll have even more locations, characters and stories to explore. I’m chomping at the bit to start work with Disney’s legendary Imagineers to bring our Avatar universe to life. Our goal is to go beyond current boundaries of technical innovation and experiential storytelling, and give park goers the chance to see, hear, and touch the world of Avatar with an unprecedented sense of reality.”

Apparently the ride will be ready for 2013 and if done right may be one helluva ride, with a $400 million budget could it possibly be a flop? I don't think so but we'll see.

Films with smoking in it could get an automatic 18 band

According to The British Medical Journal, films which depict actors smoking should get an automatic 18 band.

Researchers from the UK Centre for Tobacco Control are calling for films that feature characters smoking to get the same classification as films which feature sex or violence.

Apparently children under 15 are exposed to characters that smoke from a very young age and are more likely to smoke than kids who do not watch the same films.....I personally think this is utter hogwash and refuse to believe that it's films like Lord of The Rings and 101 Dalmatians that make kids want to smoke, I mean come on! Really? Let us know what you guys think!

Finally after 6 years. DEAD OR ALIVE 5 is finally coming out

I don't but i really excited to find out that DEAD OR ALIVE 5 is actually coming out. I have been a fan of the DOA series for the last 14 years. When i first played it in the arcades and i ain't gonna lie and say the game play was the main reason i played it at as 11 year old. It was the bouncing boobies. You can't really blame me. I was a 11 year old boy. But it wasn't till DOA 2 came out on the Dreamcast i started to take the game seriously and since then i have bought every game since. DOA 2 on the Dreamcast, DOA 2:Hardcore on the Playstation 2, DOA 3 on the Xbox, DOA:Ultimate on the Xbox which was just a remake of DOA 2, DOA Volley ball and DOA 4. Each game i put a lot of man-hours in too. I even watched the Film which everyone hates but i actually liked it. I was a lot better then the Tekken Movie.

So when i found out DOA 5 was coming out i get so excited and that was like 3 years ago. I started to think that Team Ninja was lying to me and i kinda forgot. Then DOA Dimension came out on the Nintendo 3DS. I know DOA 5 would be on the way and i wake up this morning there it was a trailer. A trailer they showed at The Tokyo Game Show. All i can say is that the trailer looks AWESOME. TEAM Ninja said that in DOA 5 the fighting will center around using the stage to win. Everything on the stage can be used as a weapon. There is no word on when its going to come out but i know its some time next year.

Am off to watch the trailer again but am going to leave you with a little gift.

Van Damme and Chuck Norris are Confirmed to be The Expendables 2

The heavens have answered my prays and the legend of all legends. The Great Chuck Norris is going to be in the Expendables 2 as with Jean Claude Van Damme. They are also trying to get Nic Cage and John Travolta to be in the film too or at least make a cameo. I just hope Stone Cold Steve Austin is gonna come back. From what i heard he was going to be as this previous character's twin brother, but that could be a rumors. But fingers crossed.

When i found out more on the cast i will keep you all posted

FOX Developing DC's The Spectre

Well it looks like DC comics have another show in the pipeline based on another Supernatural Character and this time is The Spectre. The website Deadline have reported that the Television Network FOX are planning to bring the Spectre to the small screen. For those who don't know who the Spectre is. He is Jim Corrigan, a former cop was killed and become the Spirit of Vengeance. To be honest Jim Corrigan was the first Spectre. There has been 3 and included Hal Jordan. Hopefully this Show actually sees the light of day and doesn't end up like Wonder Woman.

Hopefully the Spirit of Vengeance doesn't come looking for my ass.

Cable is coming back and this time he is fighting the Avengers???

Its a official, after dying over a year ago in Second Coming. Cable is coming back. Marvel teased this at San Diego Comic-con with a poster saying "Cable Reborn" and this morning Marvel announced that he will be coming back and he is fighting the Avengers in a four part mini written by Jeph Loeb and art by Ed McGuinness.

I have two problems with this news. Firstly Cable only died ago and he is already coming back. I love Cable but i think its to early for him to come back, unless he ain't coming coming back and its someone using his image. Like Ultron fusing himself with Cable's dead body to become human. Personally if Cable was to come back, it should be in an X-men title, not the Avengers. My second problem is Jeph Loeb writing this four part mini. To me Jeph Loeb is one of those hit or miss writers. I liked Loeb's Batman: Hush but i hated his Hulk run and Ultimatum which nobody liked and i mean NO-ONE. But only time will tell if this will be any good.

Now am gonna take a nap and after that am gonna go and find my son who i sent to the future. Wish me luck

Those GODDAMNED 3D REMAKES

If you haven't heard by now, Hollywood execs plan to remake a number of films and low and behold in 3D!!

The biggest one to piss me off personally?? Top Gun....yes you read correctly and to save you from re-reading I'll type it again...Top Gun.

You know, the film starring Tom Cruise as Maverick with his flight partner and as many may say Homosexual life partner Goose. The film about fighter pilots yet manages to be more feminine than all the Sex in the City series and movies rolled into one? The film with possibly the most annoying theme song in the history of theme songs?

My beef isn't with them re-making this film... But What in God's name gave these guys the idea to do it in 3 f***ing D???

Jurassic Park? Who wouldn't wanna see T-Rex Chase down an Ingen jeep or a Triceratops battle with Raptors?

GhostBusters? A 3D Slimer yeh why not?

But Top Gun??? Really?? Tom Cruise (or some wanna be cruise) spending more time on a bike than a jet?? Come one man, that's weak. All I'm saying is there better be more dog fights in this film.

I'm @GeorgeK1988 and hearing this news almost took my breath away.

X-men Schism Aftermath: Wolverine and his band of X-men and Cyclops and his Uncanny X-men

There is 2 more issues of X-men Centered event Schism to go and for the last 2 weeks, Marvel have been letting out teaser image of the two different X-men teams after Wolverine and Cyclops go their different ways. Marvel even teased that Cyclops might even but the bullet. But thank Rao, he ain't going to die. Now finally Marvel has released the mains characters on Wolverine and Cyclops' team of X-men. The Gold and the Blue team. I have to say, being a Wolverine Fan, am actually looking Cyclops team a bit more. Well Cyclops main teams anyways. Like the New Mutants and The Uncanny X-men.

Characters left to right: Psylocke, DeadPool, Fantomex, Age of Apocalypse Nightclawer, Quinton Quires, Wolverine, Idie Ice-man, Beast, Shadow-cat, Gambit, Phoenix 2 (Rachel Summers), Frenzy, Strong-guy, Madrox, Longshot, Shatter-star, Polaris, Havok, Wolfbane, Banshee, Monet, Layla Miller and Rictor.

So here is Wolverine's team of X-men. The interesting thing is that Ice-man, Beast, Havok and Rachel Summer who are all really close to Cyclops decide to join Wolverine. Cyclops must do something that really pissed them off. I know why X-Factor would join Wolverine as they are based in New York and Wolverine is moving back to New York. Plus Madrox doesn't get on with Cyclops. Another random member of Wolverine's X-men is Quinton Quires who was the guys who started the whole schism between Cyclops and Wolverine. Also is it me or does X-Factor seem a bit over powered as they have like 10 members on their team? Hopefully this year Ice-man actually gets some screen time.

Characters from left to right. Rei, Primal, Velocidad, Sebastian Staw, Transonic, Hope, Warpath, Jubilee, Psylocke, Domino, Storm, Magneto, Danger, Cyclops, Emma Frost, Colossus, Magik, Danni Moonstone, X-man, Cypher, Sunspot, Magma and Warlock

This team seems more A-list to me. You got all the heavy hitters compared to Wolverine's team of X-men. Its  interesting that Colossus and Shadow-cat ain't on the same team. I wonder if they are still together. Also weird that Jubilee ain't on the same team as Wolverine as he is like a father to her unless its the whole vampire thing. Am still confused about Psylocke being on 2 teams. Unless she is a spy. I also funny that Cyclops' brother and daughter are on Wolverine's team. All Cyclops has is his son X-man. I know Warpath wouldn't join Wolverine after all the stuff that went down in Nercosha.

The thing i really wanna know is where are the younger mutants like Anole, Rockslide and the others gonna go? I miss those guy.

Who team do you think is better??

Am off to catch a flight to Utopia to Join Cyclops. Peace out Kyle @JohnnyTimpulse

Dragon Ball Z Ultimate Tenkaichi Story mode trailer

So Namco/ Bandai have finally put together a trailer for their 10th Dragon Ball Z game. Well am not really sure if it's their 10th game but i like to think it is as i have bought all of them over the last 8 years. The trailer looks pretty awesome and they have bought back Story mode to the game and they have actually re-animated some of the scenes from the original Dragon Ball Z cartoon. They it looks beautiful. I just hope the game goes through the  all the sagas including Dragon Ball GT. But have heard from my brother, the Golden Oozaru (the Golden Giant monkey) is in it. But who knows. Well i hope you enjoy the trailer

Am off to go and fight Yamcha as he is the weakest Z-Fighter. So i think i have a chance.

Fright Fest 2011 review

Fright Fest 2011

Every August bank holiday thousands of gore hounds ascend upon London’s Leicester Square for the UK’s premiere horror and fantasy film festival. Playing host to over forty movies, many of them being either world or UK premieres, this is truly the weekend that cinephiles the world over should all have marked down on their calendar. Opening on the Thursday night with the UK premiere of the Guilermo Del Toro produced Don’t Be Afraid Of The Dark and closing on bank holiday Monday with the hotly anticipated survival shocker A Lonely Place To Die along with first showings of Fright Night 3D, Ti West’s The Inkeepers and Brit horror flick Kill List, Fright Fest 2011 would be the biggest Fright Fest yet! I headed down to Leicester Square for the opening night and here is my pick of the good, the bad and the damn right nasty from the weekend!

Don’t Be Afraid Of The Dark (****): Written and produced by Guilermo Del Toro, this has been a labour of love for the big man as it has taken him years to get the movie made but it will finally see a release this October. Don’t Be Afraid is a remake of a 1973 TV movie of the same name, a TV movie that most people will never have heard of which is always a good thing when it comes to movie remakes. The story goes a little like this - a young girl (Baille Maddison) is sent to live with her father (Guy Pearce) and his new girlfriend (Katie Holmes) and discovers strange creatures in her new home who want to claim her as one of their own. Troy Nixey’s remake enters classic haunted house territory and it has a great old school horror vibe to it that I really love, also the good news is that is has Del Toro’s finger prints all over it and I found myself at several points having flashbacks to Pans Labyrinth. The big scares here come courtesy of the evil fairy creatures that are creepy as hell (expecting anything less from Del Toro?) these things are damn right nasty, hell they are the worst tiny terrors on the big screen since those pesky Critters!!!

Final Destination 5 (***): You know exactly what you are getting when you go se a Final Destination movie, the formula has not changed since the first movie which was released eleven years ago now and to be honest that is not such a bad thing! With the 3D gimmick also now commonplace with the franchise, the movies have the same feel as taking a trip to Thorpe Park and going on your favourite ride – a rollercoaster ride of death from start to finish Final Destination 5 surprisingly rises above the other sequels in the series and it is no exaggeration to say this is the best entry since the original, for me the reason behind this stems from it not taking itself too seriously and the comedy has been heavily ramped up and to great affect. Oh any best news of all – Tony Todd is back for his usual cameo which is always a highlight of these movies!

The Theatre Bizarre (*): Theatre Bizarre follows in the footsteps of a long line of classic horror anthology movies, this sub genre is a big favourite of mine with the anthology’s from both Hammer and Amicus back in the 60’s and early 70’s being amongst my favourites, so naturally I had high hopes for this movie, I mean seven horror greats coming together for a collection of seven macabre shorts – what could be better? God I wish I had set my expectations lower! The stories on offer here range from horribly average to damn right garbage, the running time is also around an hour too long and had this been cut down to four stories then it may have had a better flow to it. Richard Stanley’s Mother Of Toads gets the movie off to a decent start with a very predictable but still creative story with a very Lovecraftian flavour to it. Next up is the morbid love story I Love You which is definitely the pick of the bunch. Tom Savini’s Wet Dreams is an amateurish effort from a horror maestro who should know better. The Accident is a very poignant story but seems very out of place here in this ultra gory collection. Vision Stains and Sweets round out the collection and I guess the worst was left to last as this double header is absolute dross! It is unlikely that Theatre Bizarre will ever see a theatrical release, still avoid at all costs!

Tucker And Dale VS Evil (****): Tucker and Dale is the story of two hapless hillbillies who head out into the woods to fix up their new vacation home only to come up against a group of college kids who are under the impression that the duo are of the Wrong Turn redneck ilk and are going to kill them off one by one – alas hilarious major misunderstandings abound and a blood bath ensues! Tucker and Dale is a comedic twist on movies such as Texas Chainsaw and Wrong Turn, It truly is a laugh out loud flick from start to finish and at the same time offers up plenty of inventive death scenes and nail biting moments. Alan Tudyk (Firefly) and Tyler Labine (Reaper) are first class as the title characters, both of these actors excel in these types of comedic roles and the chemistry between the duo here is first rate. Tucker And Dale will not see a widespread theatrical release here in the UK but will hit DVD AND Blu Ray at the end of September and I cannot recommend it highly enough, yes it is silly but I’ll go on record and say this is the comedy event of 2011!

Troll Hunter (****): As would be expected Troll Hunter went down a treat with the Fright Fest faithful, you can read my full review on the movie by scrolling the AOTA archives.

The Wicker Tree (***): Based on Robin Hardy’s novel Cowboys For Christ, this is a sequel/reimagining to his classic 1973 movie The Wicker Man. The Wicker Tree is a highly engaging movie that will keep you entertained throughout, my only complaint with Hardy’s new entry into the series is that the horror aspect is almost non existent until the final twenty minutes with the first seventy played mainly for laughs. Still this is definitely one to check out when it gets a DVD release in the first half of 2012.

Fright Night 3D (***): A big budget Disney remake of a classic 1985 vampire movie with Colin Farell in the lead role as the sexy vampire next door? You gotta be fucking kidding me right???!!! That was my initial reaction to the news that Fright Night would be remade for 2011, one of my favourite 80’s horror movies this was bound to be shite! Right? Actually wrong as 2011’s Fright Night 3D is actually one of the best vampire movies to hit the big screen in quite some time, the 3D may be pointless but the classic story in still intact (well with a few tweaks) and the casting is very good with Farrell being excellent as Jerry and Anton Yelchin, Toni Collete and David Tennant all fantastic in their roles. As far as the cast goes, the major downfall for was Chris Mintz-Plasse in the role of Evil as Stephen Geoffreys was the highlight of the 1985 original when he portrayed the role. Look out for cameo from original Jerry – Chris Sarandon, this had the fright fest faithful up on their feet cheering at the premiere!

The Inkeepers (**): Ti West is a Fright Fest favourite so there was never any doubt that he would not return with his latest offering Inkeepers, A slacker-horror centered on the last two employees at a haunted hotel that's going out of business. Now I like Ti West and I did want to like The Inkeepers but for me it just felt like it had something missing, I cannot say too much without giving the movie away but come the final frame I felt slightly cheated over what I had seen in the past ninety minutes. Sara Paxton is fantastic in the lead role of slacker Claire and without her this may have fell totally on its arse but she is likeable enough of a character to keep you gripped at her ghost hunting exploits. I may be being a little harsh here as The Inkeepers was one of the biggest hits with fans at this year’s festival but for me it felt a little flat but hey there is always a chance I’ll give it a second chance!

Apollo 18 review

Houston, do we have a problem??

Going into this screening I didn't know what to expect, I mean I knew what the film was about and how the story would be told (first hand accounts using "lost footage") but I didn't know if I was excited or what.

I'm a big space nut, so when I heard about this film I knew I had to watch it but wasn't sure what conspiracy they would turn to (won't give anything away) but it's a solid theory that has been going on for years.

Apollo 18 is a film based on conspiracy theories as to why we haven't been back to the moon (if we even got there in the first place) shot as though the archive footage was discovered, the story tells of three astronauts who are rocketed to the moon on a top secret mission, one the public are not meant to know about. As they go on with there mission they start to unravel a secret they were not meant to discover and all hell breaks loose.

As the film plays it no doubt has some creepy moments but nothing worth spilling your popcorn over or covering your eyes over although it does make you want to keep watching. The film is edited very well but sometimes I felt that the film going out of frame got pretty annoying (made me want to bang the side of the screen to straighten it out if I could)

The acting is great and the camera angles are great at concealing certain things but the whole time I never thought this could be real (and Timur Berbembatov's Executive producing credit fuelled the thought)

So is Apollo 18 a rocket fuelled by tension, horror and truth or does Huston have a problem? To be honest I don't know, As much as I liked it I can't help but think it won't do too well. It's a good film and like Paranormal Activity people may believe it is real but I can't see this making any big waves.

Watch if you liked 'The Fourth Kind' or 'Paranormal Activity'

WarHammer 40k Spacemarine Deom

I finally got round to playing the demo of the Warhammer 40K Spacemarine game.....WOW! It is awesome!

For those who are unaware of the Spacemarines or Waehammer 40k, here's a brief history....based on a popular modelling/wargaming hobby which started in the 80s in the UK, warhammer 40k is set in a distant and dark future where there is only war! There are many races who battle amongst each other and the Spacemarines are one of them.

In the game, we are Spacemarines battling the evil xenos scum that are the Orks! A scavenging, maniacal race of green-bleeders who travel in hordes and kill anything in there path.

The gameplay is easy to get use to and the graphics are good...a lot better than I thought it would be. Usually the guys at Relic do real-time strategy Warhammer games but this one is on the nose. You only get to role around with 2 other Spacemarines Which sucks as they are usually in a squad of 5 but the action is awesome.

The demo let's you play 2 missions, one allowing you to use a jump-pack which is fun. You are equipped with 4 guns, the bolter, bolter pistol, a silenced/scoped weapon and a remote-controlled grenade launcher...also the o-so famous chainsword which many may think was copied from Gear's Chain saw mounted rifle...think again.

This demo has sold it for me, it's everything I expected, blood, blood, body parts, executions and more!!! Defiantly check it out!!

CW are planning to do a show about the DC character Deadman

So after DC and NBC failed with the Wonder Woman tv show. It looks like they are taking another stabbed at it but this time with Deadman. For those who don't know. Deadman aka Boston Brand was a man who got murdered and came back as a ghost but no-one can see or hear him but he has the power to take over a living person's body. There is no say on when this show with come out, but am guessing sometime next year. The only big name attached to this project is Eric Kripke who is the writer of the TV show Supernatural. So i have a feeling that Deadman is going to be a mixture of Supernatural and Quantum Leap. Jumping from body to body, trying to find his way back home expect Deadman is trying to find his killer and get in to heaven.

Well am off to go and find my killer so i can get in to heaven. Until next time. Kyle @JohnnyTimpulse
